Exciting News...

Sorry no photos in this post! I have been a really slack lately, but that's because I have had other distractions - like my new boyfriend! BF (boyfriend, cos I'm too lazy to type out the whole word) I met a bit over 3 weeks ago has been taking me away from my stitching, oh well, I am not complaining! He doesn't ride a road bike like me but does ride a mountain bike (it's a hard road finding the perfect man...LOL) and the funniest thing is that he lives just 200 metres away from me, so he has been here the whole time!!! He is such a lovely guy and wants the same things as me, so fingers crossed he's a keeper.

On the stitching front, I haven't got much done, but I have been working on the Enchantment of Winter. I am trying to do a bit of the 1 over 1 and having problems seeing it! It's definitely not for the faint hearted! Does anybody have any tips on doing 1 over 1?

I have done a little bit on the 1 over 1 and you have to be careful you don't pull the threads too hard or they disappear into the fabric!

I am actually taking a sick day today, I was meant to start my new job today but ended up being really sick with a very nasty chesty cough and aching all over, I felt soooo bad about calling in sick on my first day but I can barely get out of bed! I'm hardly ever sick and it's so unpleasant and annoying. I guess I can only get better....I hope :)

Happy stitching!

  1. Congrats to the new man! I remember how exciting that is heeheehee.

Stitching 1 over 1 I always do one stitch at a time rather than a row of //// then the \\\\
Also if you have a block of stitches then try stitching in diagonal rows rather than horizontal rows. I always get a "cable" effect if I stitch horizontal rows. Which can look good (like on the Furies' dresses in Dark Alphabet.

I learned alot about over 1 doing my Dark Alphabet!

    1. Thanks for that very good 1 over 1 advice! I will try that, there is so much 1 over on the Enchantment chart, I almost regret starting it now!! haha. I will just keep plugging away at it.

    2. This page helped me a lot http://www.funkandweber.com/cross-stitch-over-one-thread/

I started a pattern where I decided to do the entire thing with 1 over 1. Not because it was required but because I didn't have a big enough piece of fabric :P I quite like the result but I do agree it gets tiring.

I can't wait to see the rest of Winter Enchantment :) that is one pattern I really want to find.
