The 16 Year Old Cross Stitch

Firstly an update on the Handmade, with Love cross stitch. As you can see I haven't done much stitching since the last post, but at least I have done some! I really love stitching with 3 threads, it makes it much easier!



This is a picture of the finished cushion, which I will get some nice spotty or retro fabric to back the cushion with.

I will also endeavour to post some pictures of my WIPS - now there is quite a few of them so I will feature one WIP each post. The first WIP is my oldest cross stitch, and I think I have been doing it for about 16 years...Why haven't I finished it? Well because its a very difficult pattern (as most Teresa Wentzler patterns are) and I picked it up after about 10 years of not doing anything on it, and found that some of the grey DMC cottons have changed slightly in those years - serves me right for not finishing it in a respectable time frame!

Anyway after putting out a SOS for some old DMC cottons that someone has from years ago - A big thank you to the ladies (and gents) of the chatelainedesigns.yuku.com message board! I now have 2 of the old DMC cottons so I can carry on stitching.




As you can see the grey on the horses head is slightly lighter than the legs, hence the need for the older DMC cottons, and a bit of unpicking! Though the alternative was to replace the legs with the newer DMC, but that involved A LOT of unpicking.

Since the Christmas holidays are fast approaching I have started to make a list of craft related things I will do with my few days I have off from work. Since its is summer over Christmas, I'm usually out on my bike enjoying the summer days, so my list will be short but hopefully productive!

In March I went to Egypt. This had been on my list of places to visit for a long time, and I absolutely loved it! The view from the hotel room, you can imagine how excited I was when I saw that view! Trophies and a Party

Well I had an interesting weekend, we had our prize giving for the Time Trial club and I won a trophy! Actually I didn't win it for this season, I won it last season but we didn't have a prize giving and no one had told me I had won it! Needless to say I was very pleased with myself and it was fun seeing MY name engraved on the trophy! Here I am feeling very pleased with myself... You may remember from my last post I was going to my friends 40th birthday party, well we had an awesome time and stayed up until 4am! A good time was had by all and I have one or two pictures to show, some of them aren't fit for general viewing (I don't really need to say more) This is at the start of the night, so were looking pretty good Lucy is very talented and plays the drums, piano, sings and can also play the ukulele! My Little French Obssesion

There hasn't been a whole lot of stitching going on since I finished Tuscany Town, I am now back at work so   even though that's good because I get a decent pay packet now, I don't have the time I use to for stitching! I have how ever been working on the Multiplication Sampler, and this actually stitches up quite fast because you only use one colour. Before- After- I have also brought another Chatelaine! The new addition is Lake Como I already have some fabric - 32-count white sparkles from Country Stitch, so all I need now is some threads... I have started a new project, it's called Je T'aime by Anette Eriksson, out of the February issue of the Cross Stitcher magazine. Fabric 28-count Linen DMC thread It uses 3 strands of thread so uses up a lot of thread rather quickly, but looks great! I will be making it into a cushion (one day...)
